Last Day in Fiji

Who would have thought six weeks would come and go so quickly. It started out slow and seemed as if the days would never end. Then by the third week we started to wonder what was going on with the time. Great moments.

The night before my friends from India, PNG and Solomon Islands left Fiji, we stayed up late watching power points put together by our grand-dad Ron and one prepared by Rochelle & I which were so funny. After that we were singing songs until some persons left for bed after 11pm. Retta, Joy & I decided to stay up some more singing songs I had written out for them. Rochelle joined us later as we belted out Jesus take the Wheel in the wee hours of the night, not considering those who had gone to sleep earlier. It was always such a joy - no pun intended - to sing with Retta & Joywho are so passionate about music. My body cried for rest and so I bid them farewell, dragging my weary self to the room.

It was by this time after 1am and I knew that the group would be leaving in another couple of hours. I had to get just a bit of sleep.

Huh! Yes! I'm awake, I'm awake. Merlyn, not seeing Rochelle & I to bid them farewell, came and woke us up. A quick glance at the time showed me 5:26am. I was so not ready to get up, but I sprung out of bed to see all sixteen of my friends off.

It wouldn't be the same without them. We hugged, took pictures of our morning faces, kissed, cried and of course sang a few songs, while we waited on the bus. We sang one of our favourite songs, Stand up if you really love Jesus. That was great as we all sang and did the action as our tired bodies would allow. The fun came to an end and the reality slowly sank in as I watched with teary eyes, all my friends boarding the buses. I tried to sneak in but our dad Richard had his eyes on me. Oh what a way to say goodbye.

Well, I should be sleeping in preparation for my flight at 10pm but here I am blogging away. It has been a great experience for me and I want to share it with the world.

No matter where you are from God can use you mightily and cause you to finish strongly. As we have been encouraged to do when we return Roar like a Lion for Jesus. Do not be afraid because the Lord your God is with you.

  1. I'm glad you had a great time in the Lord. It's always good to fellowship with people that share a common goal(to see Jesus). Safe trip home.
